Strike action called off at St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School

Teachers have called off planned strike action which would have closed down a school in Featherstone.

Unions and St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School were in dispute over “leadership and management issues”.

A one-day strike was held on November 3 and further walk-outs were planned for Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

But this week’s action has been suspended after an agreement was reached between the school management and the National Union of Teachers, NASUWT and Unison.

A statement on the school website said: “We are pleased to announce that, following agreement with the unions, the planned industrial action has been suspended and consequently the school will be open as usual on Tuesday and Wednesday next week and thereafter.”
