The fundraising total for the ale showcase at Unity Hall last June was £9,380.52.

The festival was organised by Wakefield Round Table (WRT) who have been in touch to give us a breakdown on where the money went.

WRT community service officer Matthew Wood said: “The money has been split equally across three good causes: brain tumour charity Levi’s Star. It is in memory of Levi Ringer, who tragically died at six-and-a-half-years old.

“Wakefield Hospice also benefited. They are committed to providing the highest level of symptom management and care for people who have life-threatening illness.

“The last third went to Round Table Community Service. It supports people, community groups and worthy causes in and around the Wakefield area. We have recently supported, Wakefield MS Society, Wakefield Down’s Syndrome Society, St Catherine’s Food Bank in Wakefield, Laila Millie Foundation, Riding for the Disabled and many others.”

And WRT is doing it all again at Unity Hall on the weekend of June 24 and 25.

Mr Wood added: “Following the success of last year’s event we will be expanding the event into a third room with a greater choice of food and 100 different beers and ciders.”

The organisers are doing a wide range of sponsorship packages. See www.wakefieldfestivalofbeer.co.uk and follow @WakefieldBeer on Twitter for more.
