A suspicious flat fire in Wakefield on Friday evening is being investigated by the police.
Fire crews were called to the smoking flat on Dickinson Court at around 10.50pm, and forced entry to search for the occupants with breathing equipment.
Nobody was inside the one-bedroom flat, which was badly smoke damaged, fire fighters said.
Police and fire service investigators are looking into the cause of the blaze.
Watch commander Mick Ferris, from Wakefield Fire Station, said: “This could have been very serious. We advise householders to make sure they have working smoke detectors fitted.”
