A TEENAGE girl was sexually assaulted at Kirkgate Railway Station.

The 14-year-old victim was attacked at around 6.45pm last Friday, February 1.

It happened as she waited for a family member to pick her up from the station.

PC Christopher McGlynn said: “Near the exit of the station she was approached by an older man who propositioned her. When the victim declined his advances, the man began to touch her inappropriately. The man then walked away from the station and turned left at the end of Monk Street.

“This was understandably a very distressing experience for the victim, who was left incredibly upset and shaken by the man’s actions. We take incidents of this nature very seriously and are determined to find the man responsible. I’d ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or recognises the man’s description, to contact us urgently.”

The suspect is described being around 20-years-old, of medium built, with shaven, strawberry blonde hair.

He was wearing a blue jacket.
