Teenager dies after being hit by train in Castleford

A teenager has died after being hit by a train in Castleford.

Emergency services were called to the level crossing near Albion Street, Castleford at around 6pm on Wednesday evening and a 17-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital.

But a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said the boy died yesterday (Monday).

He added: “Our officers were called to a level crossing near Castleford shortly before 6pm on Wednesday, August 20, after reports a person had been hit by a train.

“Colleagues from West Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Ambulance Service also attended.

“The incident is not currently being treated as suspicious.”
