A teenager suffered head injuries after being hit by a car while on a night out.
The incident happened on Westgate, near the junction with Bank Street, at around 2.04am on Sunday.
A 19-year-old man was injured after being struck by the vehicle.
Police closed for road for two and a half hours while they carried out their enquires.
Insp Mark Chamberlain, of Wakefield Central Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT), said: “Fortunately the man suffered only minor injuries.
“We spoke with the driver and found he was not to blame.
“I would like to remind drivers that there are lots of people are out drinking on weekends so please take extra care.”
