Teens attacked with ‘spanner’ on way to bonfire

Two teenage boys claim they were hit in the face with a spanner on their way to a fireworks display in Featherstone.

A 17-year-old from Pontefract and an 18-year-old from Castleford were walking to the bonfire event at Featherstone Rovers’ rugby ground on November 3, when they were approached by two males.

The suspects are said to have become verbally abusive before striking both victims with a weapon, believed to be a spanner, causing facial injuries.

The suspects then ran off over the railway tracks.

Police are investigating the incident, which occurred on fields behind the rugby ground at Green Lane, at around 9pm.

The attacker was described as around 18-years-old, white, and of medium build. He was wearing a grey top and blue jeans and was carrying an object, thought to be a spanner.

The second man was described as white, of slim build, and about 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a blue top with the hood up and blue jeans.
