Three injured in M62 smash

THREE people were injured when two cars came off the M62 on Tuesday night.

The vehicles slid down an embankment on the Eastbound carriageway after they were involved in a smash between junctions 30 and 31 at around 8pm.

Firefighters from Wakefield, Normanton and Rothwell Stations were called to help free the drivers and passenger before being taken to Pinderfields Hospital. .

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service said: “The weather last night was horrendous and the situation was quite challenging.

“The drivers and the passenger involved were all very lucky.”
