Three schools have been given academy status after Wakefield Council gave its approval.
All Saints Featherstone Junior and Infant School, and Castleford’s Ackton Pastures and Half Acres primaries were last week given the go-ahead for conversion.
Academies are publicly funded independent schools which are free from local authority control.
They can set their own pay and conditions for staff as well as have more choice about what to include in the curriculum.
Ackton Pastures and Half Acres have a merged governing body. Council documents state they will join the Inspire Partnership Multi Academy Trust.
All Saints is joining the Enhance Academy Trust.
