Food at the district’s hospitals has been given a top rating by hygiene inspectors.
Mid Yorkshire Hospitals Trust has been rated as five, the highest possible accreditation from the Food Standards Agency.
The rating was confirmed after unannounced inspections of Abacus Nursery at Pinderfields Hospital and the catering department at Dewsbury and District Hospital.
The trust has held the top rating for more than five years.
Under the Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme, all organisations are tested on all aspects of food safety, including the environment food is prepared in, cleanliness and food temperature.
Sue Short, catering and food safety lead at Mid Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted with our continued achievement. As a healthcare trust, it’s important we lead by example which is why it is a real priority that the meals we prepare for our patients, visitors and staff meet the highest hygiene standards.
“It isn’t just about a one off inspection. Our staff work very hard to ensure we consistently meet these standards, day in day out, which is why we have held a five rating for over five years across all our hospitals.”
