Extra services are being planned.

The bus company earlier this weeks said the maximum number of passengers allowed on each bus will be reduced to a quarter of its usual capacity to help with ongoing social distancing.

That means just 11 passengers will be permitted on a single-decker compared to the usual 44, and 20 for a double-decker which can seat 74.

But Arriva has now announced it will be putting on more buses with people now beginning to return to work as the lockdown gently eases.

The extra services will start this Sunday, May, 31, and timetables can be viewed here.Patrick Sibley for Arriva said: “At Arriva we are committed to running vital services to support workers and people needing to undertake essential journeys at this time.

"Rest assured that during these times of change we are continually monitoring service levels in line with demand and will, wherever we can, adapt our services to meet this.

"We urge all those needing to travel to only use public transport if necessary and to check our website for up-to-date advice and bus times before they travel.”
