Yorkshire Water said the road was now open and bus services should resume this weekend following the five-month closure.

It was closed as almost 700m of sewers were installed by Yorkshire Water to serve a new 252-home housing development.

In February, the Express reported the concerns of householders who complained that the village was being cut in half by the roadworks.

Businesses also said the disruption was affecting their trade.

A Yorkshire Water spokeswoman said: “Yorkshire Water would like to say a massive thank you to residents for their patience and apologise for the inconvenience caused while this work has been carried out.

“Local traffic should now return to normal and a regular bus service is expected to resume by the weekend.”
