Firefighters’s strike tomorrow is called off

A fire fighters’ strike which was set to disrupt emergency services for five hours tomorrow has been called off.

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) said the action in protest at plans to make firefighters work longer for their pensions has been temporarily suspended.

Thousands of FBU members were due to take part in the strike, which was to run for five hours from 6.30pm tomorrow.

It followed a four-hour strike in September over changes which would see firefighters made to work until they are 60 to get a full pension.
