Five miles of traffic and delays of 60 minutes after vehicle fire on M62

Delays of up to 60 minutes have been reported after a vehicle fire on the M62 this afternoon.

Highways England said that they were attending reports of a vehicle fire on the hard shoulder, but smoke had drifted across the carriageway.

The incident took place on the westbound carriageway between junctions 23 (Outlane) and 22 (Denshaw) and was first reported at around 12.45pm.

More than five miles of traffic has already been reported, and delays are expected to continue to build.

Traffic officers and fire crews are en route to the scene.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys in the area.
