Four miles of traffic after vehicle fire on A1M between Pontefract and Doncaster

Long delays have been reported on the A1M this afternoon after a vehicle fire.

Queues of more than four miles have been reported close to Doncaster, with traffic backing up towards Pontefract and South Elmsall.

Highways England said they had stopped traffic in both directions between junction 36 (Warmsworth) and junction 37 (Marr), after reports of an HGV on the northbound carriageway.

South Yorkshire Fire crews and Traffic Officers are on scene.

Highways England have issued an official diversion for drivers in the area, who are encouraged to leave the A1M at junction 36 and follow the A19 to the A638.
