Workers will return to repair a railway bridge after it was damaged by a skip lorry.

The vehicle struck the bridge over Haigh Lane, Haigh, on Saturday, January 4, causing trains to be cancelled and the road to be closed.

An emergency road closure was then put in place last Tuesday, while workers repaired the bridge.

Wakefield Council, which oversees road closures, said work has taken longer than expected and more repairs are needed.

Daytime road closures will be in place along Haigh Lane between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
