Major disruption to trains through Wakefield as 'multiple fires' reported on tracks

Multiple fires have been reported next to the tracks between Swinton and Moorthorpe, Northern said, causing disruption to all services between Leeds and Sheffield.

In a tweet, Northern said: "Due to multiple fires next to the tracks between Swinton S.Yorkshire and Moorthorpe, all services between Leeds and Sheffield via Moorthorpe, in both directions, are currently being disrupted.

"The fire brigade are due on site shortly to attempt to rectify this issue, however, at this time no estimate for when normal service will resume can be provided. The 12:48 Leeds to Sheffield is the first affected service and is currently being delayed at Swinton."
