Travellers moved on from camp in Stanley

Travellers who arrived in Stanley have left the village after being served with enforcement action by Wakefield Council.

The council said it issued a Notice to Quit after after a group of people set up camp at Rooks Nest Road.

Glynn Humphries, Wakefield Council’s service director for environment and streetscene, said: “We can confirm the travellers have moved from Rooks Nest Road, Stanley.

“This follows our swift action, in partnership with the police, to serve a notice to quit order using our enforcement powers to move them from an unauthorised encampment.”
