Tributes have been paid to a much-loved police horse following his sudden death.

Fimber, aged 14, joined the Force in 2004 and served for 11 years. He died following an accident at Carr Gate, Wakefield, yesterday afternoon.

Superintendent Pat Casserly said, “We believe that Fimber was spooked whilst out in the paddock, causing him to attempt to vault the fences, when he collided with a wooden post.

“He was seriously injured and unfortunately died on his way to the vet. Officers and staff at Carr Gate are distraught at the sudden death of Fimber. He was friendly and courageous and will be sadly missed.”
