TV couple move into the city

WHAT's occurring? – A television dream couple have set up home in the city.

Joanna Page, star of BBC TV’s hit romantic comedy Gavin and Stacey and her husband, James Thornton of ITV soap Emmerdale, have moved into Jane McDonald’s former house in Sandal, the Express understands.

Joanna, a RADA graduate, plays Stacey Shipman in the award-winning show which has propelled to star status.

But it was not an overnight success, she also played Just Judy in the movie Love Actually and landed many starring roles at the Royal National Theatre.

James has also had big roles in shows including Playing the Field, Holby City, The Lakes and his latest role as hunky farmer James Barton in the Yorkshire set soap.

He has also had roles in theatre including a stint at the National Theatre in works by playwright Anton Chekhov.

Famously, Joanna, from Swansea, first spotted her future Bradford-born husband while watching BBC’s adaptation of David Copperfield and told her mum she wanted him to be the father of her children.

She also had a part in the series, but they never met on set.

Eventually they were set up together by a mutual friend, actress Maxine Peake of Shameless and Red Riding fame.

The couple, both in their early 30s, got married in 2003.
