Both were rushed to Leeds General Infirmary, one by air ambulance, thought to be suffering from spinal injuries.

It is believed the Vauxhall Corsa collided with a stationary Peugeot van.

Two men were working in front of the van, but escaped unscathed.

Crews left at around 3.15pm

The road is currently closed and there is queuing traffic in both directions between The Hollings junction and the A642 Wakefield Road junction.

Police are directing traffic.
