POLICE have confirmed at least two people have been seriously injured in a smash on Doncaster Road.
A blue VW Golf and a single decker bus were involved in the collision at about 2.15pm close to the Redbeck railway bridge, in Crofton.
A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Two people have suffered serious injuries.”
Eyewitnesses said that the air ambulance and a fleet of ambulances plus four fire crews are currently at the scene.
Police have also closed part of Doncaster Road and said it could be closed for some time.
The road is closed to outbound traffic from its junction with the A638 and the A655, close to Heath Common.
And the road is closed to inbound vehicles between the junctions with Lodge Lane and Wheeland Road. Diversions are in place.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area whilst the emergency services deal with the on going incident.Resident Barry Murphy, of Doncaster Road, said: “I can see the front of a bus has been ripped out. I’ve seen a helicopter, probably three ambulances, the fire brigade and there’s an army of police here.”
