UPDATE: Three people taken to hospital following lorry smash on A1(M)

Three people were taken to hospital following a crash on the A1(M) this morning.

The incident between junction 46 at Wetherby, and junction 45 at Boston Spa, involved two lorries on the southbound carriageway.

It happened at around 2.45am, and the vehicles had to be separated by fire crews with cutting equipment before they could be recovered. A fuel spillage also had to be cleared before the road could re-open at around 10.15am.

A police spokesman said injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
