UPDATE: Two lanes of M62 westbound re-open after serious smash
Police say two lanes of the M62 westbound have re-opened following a serious smash this morning.
The incident, involving two HGVs, a van and a car, happened at around 5.20am.
The motorway remains closed eastbound between J30 and J31, because of a diesel spill, but a road sweeper is currently at the site, and if the operation to clear the carriageway is successful, police say it will re-open within the hour.
It is thought that one of the HGVs collided with the central reservation. One lane remains closed westbound for barrier repairs. No one was seriously hurt in the incident.
