A VAN crashed into a field after its driver lost control on an icy road this morning (Monday).

Police closed part of Cow Lane, in Sharlston , just after 7.10am,

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said they were called to reports that a VW Transporter van had left the road and crashed into a field.

They said: “The 52-year-old driver had lost control due to ice on the road.

“He was not seriously injured but was taken to Pinderfields Hospital as a precaution.”

The road is still partially closed near to the junction with Weeland Road but is expected to re-open later today.

In Middlestown two cars were involved in a collision on New Road yesterday.

Police were called just before midday.

No-one was injured.
