Dozens of floral tributes have been left at the spot in Featherstone where two men in their 20s died after the car they were travelling in left the road and smashed into a lamp post.
The men were in an orange Ford Focus ST when they crashed at the junction of Wakefield Road and Common Side Lane at around 11.50pm on Friday, February 13.
Police said the car left the road at the junction before crashing into a lamp post and then a tree.
One of the tributes read: “RIP Lads. Fev won’t be the same!”
West Yorkshire Police’s Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) has appealed for anyone who saw the incident to get in touch.
Sgt Ann Drury, from MCET, said: “Enquiries remain ongoing into what has clearly been a significant incident on the district’s roads which has sadly resulted in two fatalities.
“We are keen to speak to anyone who saw the collision itself and anyone who saw the vehicle and the manner in which it was being driven prior to the collision.
“Anyone who has information is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team on 101.”
