VIDEO: Man arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis as police investigate Horbury house fire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis by police investigating a house fire.

Firefighters tackled the fire in the roof of a terraced house on Millfield Road, at Horbury Junction, this morning.

Crews from Ossett and Dewsbury were called to the middle terrace, in a row of three, just before 11am this morning.

A couple living on the street said they were in their garden and could see smoke billowing over the street from the roof of the affected house.

The fire service called police to the scene at around 11.40am.

When officers searched the property, they found evidence of suspected cannabis production.

They arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of producing cannabis and causing criminal damage.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

No-one was injured in the blaze but the roof of the property was damaged.

Bus operator Arriva Yorkshire suspended the 119 and 120 bus services because of the incident.
