This is the moment a man fatally punched a dad-of-two who suspected him of having an affair with his wife.
Alexander Frew was sentenced to three and a half years in prison today (Tuesday) for the manslaughter of Burberry machinist, Matthew Welford.
A jury found Frew guilty by a majority of 10-2 yesterday, after almost two days of deliberation and a week-long trial at Leeds Crown Court.
West Yorkshire Police released CCTV footage today of the attack on June 4 at Garforth Country Club.
Frew, of Hazelwood Avenue, Garforth, gave evidence at the trial in which he claimed he struck Mr Welford because he feared he was going to headbutt him.
The jury heard that at the time of the incident, Mr Welford believed his wife Sarah and Frew were engaged in an intimate relationship.
In a statement after sentencing, relatives of Mr Welford said his death has had a “devestating effect” on the family.
It added: “Our message to people is to be the bigger person and use their common sense. If you get into a situation with someone then just walk away.
“That other person is someone’s son, father, brother and just a moment of violence can ruin their life and yours forever.”
