VIDEO: Van abandoned on flooded road into Castleford

The road between Castleford and Allerton Bywater was shut earlier today as Storm Christoph continues to dump torrential rain on the district.

However, one white van driver looks to have attempted to reach Castleford and was forced to bale out before reaching dry land.

The driver's door of the vehicle is still open.

Despite road closure signs at the traffic lights, vehicles are continuing to ignore them and carry on, although most are U-turning when they reach the flooded area.

The Met Office have issued an amber flood warning which, at the moment, will be in place until 6am tomorrow morning.
