Pubs and shops in Pontefract are joining in the fun as games along with a craft and food market, heritage walks and displays, including members of the Ackworth and Pontefract British Legion dressed up as soldiers to mark 100 years since the start of the First World War.

The legion will also have a remembrance stall where people can remember those who have died in battle at the event which runs from 10am on Friday, August 1.

There will also be welly wanging and flat cap throwing in Pontefract town centre and music from local bands.
