Volunteers help victims hit by devastating floods

A group of volunteers have rallied together to help people and businesses affected by the devastating floods.

Hundreds of people were evacuated from their homes across Yorkshire after Storm Eva hit on Boxing Day.

Dozens of volunteers set up a collection point at St Mary’s Church in South Elmsall on Tuesday.

And they have been collecting vital supplies for people living in Leeds, Wakefield and York.

Emma Frith said: “The whole community has pulled together to donate items to the victims of flooding.

“I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the support and donations. I’m so proud of everyone for pulling together.”

Anyone who can help distribute the supplies should call Miss Frith on 07743873441.
