Christmas festivities start in Wakefield tomorrow.
The Wakefield Christmas Festival will start tomorrow from 10am with a festive market. There will be carols from the cathedral choir and Wakefield brass band from 5.30pm, with the city-centre light switch-on at 6pm.
Other activities to keep the children entertained include visits from Santa’s reindeers, street entertainment, creative craft activities and children’s rides.
The festival will run until Sunday, but Ice-skating will be on offer until Christmas Eve, thanks to a temporary ice rink.
The rink will be open from 11am to 6pm each day (5pm on Sundays) and a session costs £3 per person. Sessions take place every hour with the last session starting at 5pm (4pm on Sundays).
Tickets must be purchased in person from Wakefield Visitor Centre in the Bull Ring, Mondays to Saturdays from 10am to 4.30pm (3pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays).
In addition to the Wakefield Christmas Festival, the city will host a Christmas market on three consecutive weekends in the run up to the festive season.
On November 30 and December 1, December 7 and 8 December 14 and 15.
This year visitors can enjoy free parking, every Thursday from 3pm, at all Wakefield Council city centre car parks, The Ridings and Trinity Walk shopping centres.
