Wakefield fell silent to remember heroes

SILENCE fell on schools, shops and offices as people joined The Royal British Legion to pay their respects to our fallen heroes.

AS the clock struck 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, 2011, an Act of Homage took place in Wakefield Cathedral and others paid their respects at memorial parks around the city.

Tomorrow (Saturday) poppy crosses will be planted outside Wakefield Cathedral at 11am.

On Sunday there will be a service and parade from the cathedral to the war memorial from 10.30am.

In Horbury a march will take place from Twitch Hill to St Peter’s Church.

At 2pm in Ossett there will be procession from Ryecroft Street to North Ossett Trinity Church.

In Normanton there will be services at Haw Hill Park at 10.30am and at 11.30am at the Altofts cenotaph.
