BALNE Lane Library will close to the public today (28th January) as preparations get underway for its big move to the council’s new civic office building.
Stock and services that are currently available from the library will be available on a request service from Drury Lane Library.
And the Yorkshire Libraries & Information’s (YLI) music and drama section will still be available by appointment until March 31.
A new, larger library will open at Wakefield One in the autumn, combining stock from reference, local studies and general libraries, and Wakefield Museum.
Coun David Dagger, the council’s Cabinet member for libraries, said: “We are trying to keep disruption to a minimum while we prepare to open the new service in the Autumn.
“The new library offers much more than a traditional book lending service and, with impressive facilities alongside a new museum, we are sure it will be a big hit with users.”
Wakefield One will provide customers with access to services ranging from benefits and tax to planning when it opens at Merchant Gate in September.
