PRINTING firm Bezier has been fined £80,000 after an employee was crushed to death on a press.

Bezier was also hit with £38,501 costs after breaching health and safety rules relating to the death of William Aveyard, 49, at its Balne Lane site in May 2008.

The company, which is a major local employer and had a clean health and safety record, admitted failing to ensure the safety of its workforce, including Mr Aveyard.

Leeds Crown Court heard today (Tuesday) the company had taken all necessary steps since the incident to ensure there is a safe system of work in place.
