Wakefield teachers set to go on strike next week

Teachers are set to go on strike next week.

Members of the National Union of Teachers are expected to walk out on Wednesday, in a row over workloads, pensions and pay.

The union’s regional secretary for Yorkshire Midland, Ian Stevenson, said most of the district’s schools are likely to be affected by the industrial action, and some will have no choice but to close.

A rally will be held in Leeds that day, with others taking place across the country.
