Wakefield teenager charged with kidnapping woman in Thornes Park

A TEENAGER accused of kidnapping a woman in Thornes Park has appeared in court.

Jamie Bedford Taylor, 18, is charged with kidnapping and assaulting the woman on August 11.

Bedford Taylor, of Warren Avenue, Portobello, is also accused of breaching an anti-social behaviour order by entering Thornes Park.

It is alleged a man tried to grab the woman from behind and pull her into the bushes at Thornes Park.

Police were called to the scene at just after midnight on Saturday, August 11.

Bedford Taylor was arrested days later.

Bedford Taylor faces two other charges that he possessed the Class B drug M-Cat and an offensive weapon, namely two blades, in Old Crown Road, Lupset on August 18 .

No pleas were entered when Bedford Taylor appeared for a brief hearing at Wakefield Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Bedford Taylor spoke only to confirm his name and personal 

Prosecutor Diane Gomersall asked for all the charges to be sent to Leeds Crown Court.

Julie Allott, defending, made no application for bail and Bedford Taylor was remanded in custody.

Deputy District Judge Roger Lowe sent all of Bedford Taylor’s cases to Leeds Crown Court where he faces a preliminary on Wednesday.
