Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will induct the first six players into their Hall of Fame at a special dinner next month.

The inaugural event, sponsored by Thwaites Brewery, will be held at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium, on Saturday, May 10.

Neil Fox MBE, Jonathan Parkin, Harold Poynton, David Topliss, Derek Turner and Harry Wilkinson have been selected by a panel to be the first six players immortalised in the Hall of Fame.

Michael Carter, club chairman, said: “The club has a fantastic heritage and it’s only fitting that we embrace that however we can.

“The Hall of Fame will be a lasting legacy of some of the greatest players to ever represent Wakefield Trinity and there has already been a fantastic response from supporters young and old.”

The club is also giving supporters the chance to vote for two players to enter the hall.

The list consists of Trinity greats: Ian Brooke, Mick Exley, Don Fox, Herbert Goodfellow, Bob Haigh, Bill Horton, Don Robinson, Trevor Skerrett, and Ken Traill.

Mr Carter said: “The panel have chosen the first six representatives, but we felt it only fitting that the supporters could vote on two further legends to be among the first inductees.

“It promises to be a fantastic evening and the first of many Hall of Fame dinners in the years to come.”
