Wakefield Trinity Wildcats to stay at Belle Vue

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will play their home games at Belle Vue next season.

The club had said it was serving its six months notice to leave the stadium at the end of the year, which is owned by the Bank of Ireland.

Wildcats chairman Michael Carter said the amount they were paying in rent was “unsustainable”, though they would be willing to stay if it could be renegotiated.

But the club has now struck a deal to stay at the stadium.

The club tweeted: “Agreement in principle to stay at Belle Vue for the foreseeable future. Legal work to be completed.”

A full statement is expected from the club today.
