Stanley St Peter’s School pupil Levi, six, died just six weeks after being diagnosed with a brain tumour in August 2006.

His death inspired his family to launch the Levi’s Star charity which helps children affected by brain tumours and calls for more funding and research into finding a cure.

Every year the charity holds a sponsored walk to mark Levi’s birthday. He would have celebrated turning 16 on March 16. The walk around Newmillerdam begins at 1pm tomorrow.

Levi’s mum Vicky Ringer said: “It’s lovely family event, with medals for all children completing the walk.”
