The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of snow and ice for West Yorkshire, which will be in place throughout today (Thursday) and Friday.

The day has been mostly clear, but rain is expected to set in this evening, turning to sleet and snow into the night.

Temperatures will remain cold, with highs of 2°C and lows of 1°C.

Friday, January 8

Rain and snow are expected in the early hours, with the Met Office warning that the day is likely to feel "bitterly cold".

Snow, sleet and rain will let up in the early afternoon, but heavy cloud is set to remain.

Wintry showers are forecast throughout the day, with a frost developing overnight. A yellow warning for snow and ice remains in place until 11.59pm.

A sharp frost and hazy sunshine are forecast for Saturday morning, with sunshine giving way to clouds in the evening.

Temperatures remain cold, with highs of 2°C and lows of -3°.

Sunday, January 10

Temperatures will rise slightly on Sunday, which will dawn cloudy but dry.

Highs of 5°C and lows of 2°C are forecast.
