The Redoubt on Horbury Road, which is an integral part of the pub crawl, has finally been taken over having spent months on the market.

Garforth-based A&J Inns has bought the establishment which was previously run by Punch Taverns.

The Redoubt is a Tetley’s Heritage pub and is one of the oldest in the city having traded under the same name since the 1880s.

Tony Lumb, managing director for A&J Inns, said the pub will be kept as it was, adding: “It is a good old corridor-centred pub which evolved out of vernacular stone cottages. It has an authentic layout, Tetley’s were the pub owners for more than a century and gave The Redoubt their heritage badging in 1985.”

It is hoped the pub will be open on Friday, December 9.
