Witness sought after woman assaulted near White Rose Centre

Police are trying to trace a witness who went to the aid of a woman who was assaulted while driving near the White Rose Centre.

The incident happened at about 1.30pm on Friday, November 29, while the victim, a 32-year-old woman, was driving on the ring road at the junction with Dewsbury Road, near to the White Rose.

She suffered a bloody nose and reddening to the face when she was punched by a man who stopped his car in front of her.

She called the police but had to get a woman passer-by to speak to the operator as she was having language difficulties.

Officers are now wanting to trace this woman and her daughter as potential witnesses.

She was described as white and aged in her 40s with a teenage daughter. They were in a blue car.

The woman or anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con 4159 Clare Fisher at Holbeck police station on 0113 2414642.

* A 22-year-old man from Leeds was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with common assault and making threats to kill. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court today and was given conditional bail pending a further court hearing.
