Woman dragged along road in Dewsbury carjacking

A 22-year-old woman was dragged along the road in a carjacking incident in Dewsbury last night (Monday).

The victim was pulled out of her car after she stopped in a quiet street to take a call on her mobile phone at around 10pm.

After she pulled into Wheelwright Drive, a hooded male opened her car door, grabbed her by the arm and pulled her out of the vehicle.

The woman put up a struggle, but the suspect managed to take control of the car, a red and black Mini Cooper, and drive away.

As the victim tried to stop him, she was dragged along the road for a short distance and sustained cuts and bruises to her body.

Her injuries are not thought to be serious.

The car was then seen a short time later and was found abandoned in a field between Scar Lane and Moorside Road, Dewsbury.

The suspect is described as white, wearing a plain grey hooded top, grey jogging bottoms and a red baseball cap.
