Woman's death in Pontefract no longer being treated as suspicious

The death of a woman in Pontefract is no longer being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

Detectives originally launched a murder investigation after the woman, believed to be in her 80s, was found dead at an address in the town.

Officers were called to Park Lane at around 10.30pm on Wednesday by ambulance staff.

A statement released by West Yorkshire Police today said: “Police can now confirm that the death of a woman in Pontefract last week is being treated as non-suspicious. 

“A file has been sent to the coroner.”
