X Factor star Jack releases his debut single

Castleford singer Jack Walton will release his debut single tomorrow.

The track Amazing Grace is the first to be released from his debut album, which he has been working on for the past two years.

The 21-year-old, who previously starred on TV talent show The X Factor, said: “It’s a story of love and loss but still being able to have a happy life as well.

“There’s definitely a theme of forgiveness and it’s a really happy track.”

Jack, who shares his time between Castleford and London, signed with record label The House of Nanchang in 2016.

His debut album, the name of which he is keeping tightly under wraps, is expected to be released later this year.

He said: “I am feeling really excited about the single release - it’s the first track to be released from the album.

“I do feel a bit nervous as it’s been such a long time working on the album and getting it right.

“It’s a big deal as it’s my first single.”

He added: “I signed with The House of Nanchang because I wanted to keep creative control over what I’m doing.

“I think after X Factor, it is important I do my own thing.”

Former Castleford Academy pupil Jack started singing at the age of eight and began gigging at just 11.

At the age of 16 he quit Pontefract’s NEW College to sing full time, before auditioning for The X Factor.

He made it through to the live shows in the singing competition, before being booted out.

He said: “I have a loyal fan base on social media which has been really supportive as I’ve worked on the new album.

“It’s been quite surprising how widespread the support has been, all over the country and even worldwide from being on the X Factor.”

The single will be available on music platforms including iTunes and Spotify from tomorrow.
