Sports stars, presenters and campaigners from across the region posed to mimic a famous photograph in celebration of Yorkshire Day.
Former Wakefield Trinity chairman Sir Rodney Walker and Pride of Britain winner Danielle Bailey MBE were among those who turned out to The Ridings shopping centre for the shoot.
It re-creates Vanity Fair magazine’s yearly ‘Hollywood’ covershot by Annie Leibovitz to celebrate our county’s special day on August 1.
Sara Hassan, marketing manager at The Ridings, said: “We’re really proud to be based at the heart of Wakefield and love the fact that we have a national day to celebrate all things Yorkshire, so we wanted to mark the occasion with a special event.
“All those involved in the shoot are well-known for making a real difference in the district and we thought that the iconic Vanity Fair image that captured Hollywood’s greats was very fitting.”
Sir Rodney Walker, Lizzie Jones, Kate Hardcastle, Danielle Bailey, Nick Scruton, Ciara Patchett, Sharon Watson, Stephanie Hirst, Dani Swaine and Jen Waite adorned two giant chairs. They were specially commissioned by The Ridings and will stay in the centre for people to pose with.
Businessman Sir Rodney Walker is the former chairman of the Rugby Football League, World Snooker and Brands Hatch racing circuit.
Lizzie Jones is the wife of late Welsh international rugby star Danny Jones, who died from a cardiac arrest during a match in May 2015. She has campaigned tirelessly to raise awareness of undetected, hereditary heart conditions.
Kate Hardcastle is a retail expert who is a regular contributor to broadcasters.
And swimmer Danielle Bailey MBE won a Pride of Britain Teenager of Courage Award in 2011.
Nick Scruton is a rugby player for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.
Ciara Patchett is a young member of the England and Yorkshire Jets, an organisation that has produced a Super League squad.
Sharon Watson is artistic director at Phoenix Dance Theatre.
Stephanie Hirst is a radio and TV presenter who is best known for hosting Hit40UK.
And Dani Swaine and Jen Waite both play for the Bradford Bulls Ladies team.
Ms Hassan said “We think the photograph is fantastic – they really are Yorkshire greats”.
