Letter - Councillors should set a good example

We read every day and see on the news every night about the cuts having to be made in council spending due to government reductions in subsidies to local authorities.

We are all going to pay more and get less, we are all being asked to contribute in one way or another.

May I suggest that maybe a reduction or ceiling be made to the level of expenses that councillors can claim each year.

I struggle to understand how certain councillors can amass expense claims of up to £12,000 for doing something which in days past people did for very little indeed!

Years ago it was done as a service to the communities!

Come on councillors set a good example to us all vote for a cap! (as if).
