Letter - Don’t bank on Co-op’s future

The letter by Graham Jesty: Express August 22: ‘We need to bank on your help now’, is another example of the way the local Labour party goes about its sorry business.

Despite laughably now describing itself as the party of business there is no genuine commitment to commerce or small business.

Personally I don’t see much chance of the whole Co-op bank surviving let alone its Horbury branch, as it is now in the control of American hedge fund managers.

It should not be forgotten that the Labour party is the Co-op and the Co-op is the Labour party. Not everyone is aware that the Co-op is the fourth largest political party in the UK and bankrolled New Labour and currently bankrolls red Ed Labour; it has a nerve to describe itself as an ethical organisation.

Winston Churchill observed that: The vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings and the virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

There are three banks just up the road in Ossett. That could prove to be a blessing.

Three Labour councillors, however, is definitely a misery.
