Letter - Surface dressing is widely used on roads

Contrary to Diane Wilson’s opinion about surface dressing of a road, this method of repair is widely used on roads throughout the UK and continues to prove to be a very effective way of substantially extending the life of a road, preventing more costly repairs in the future.

In the Stanley and Outwood East Ward the current priority for road repair is the surface dressing of Leeds Road from the junction with Potovens Lane to the district boundary, which will occur in the next few weeks.

Council engineers will regularly examine the condition of local roads and put together a programme to identify those roads in most need of repair and the most suitable treatment for each road.

We aim to ensure that the local road network is properly maintained for the benefit of both residents and businesses.
